When dealing with blind-packed toys, most of the time there is a way of knowing what is in each pack, by using methods like feeling the bags or reading serial numbers. As SuperThings does not have serial numbers to read, you must rely on your knowledge of what each character feels like in the bags. Easy enough, you might think, but it can get harder. Over the last few years, I have discovered that one or more regular SuperThings in a series can feel like an ultra rare but not actually be it. Someone who is unfamiliar with what to look for in an ultra rare may fall for this. I have been through every series of SuperThings and found who I think you could confuse for an ultra rare. Also, as it has been a while since I felt through a store unit, these could be inaccurate, but my memory tells me that you can tell who might be trouble at face value, since most of the time, all it takes is a shape that feels similar to the shape that the ultra rare SuperThing has. The key to this guide is to first feel for the hole each SuperThing has so you can get an idea of which way to hold the bag so the SuperThing inside is the right way up. You do this by feeling for a flat surface, and feeling for a little dip around the middle [you will need to rub a little], which is where the rim of the hole is. Note that this will not work for all of them, but it will work for most of them. The bigger a SuperThing’s base is, the better.

Series 1: Enigma

Enigma has a cylindrical shape, as he is a top hat. He also has a thin rim around his middle section, and this is a fact you will have to keep in mind, because Vortex has a similar cylinder shape. Additionally, Sugar Rush also has the same shape, but may be easier to suss out thanks to the straw on the top of his head.

Series 2: Professor K

The part of this ultra rare you will have to be wary of is his long tube shape that is on top of his head. Dusty has a similar shape, but Professor K also has a rim around the very top of his head, which Dusty doesn’t have. Jack Balance may also confuse you as he has a similar tube shape, however he has a ball shape on the top of his head.

Series 3: Mister King

This ultra rare has a cylinder shape, which SuperThings like Megafresh and Splattermax might also feel like. Mister King has some detailing on the top of his head, which means it isn’t completely flat, unlike Megafresh’s head. Splattermax may have a similar shape, however he also has his paintbrush, which you may touch when you feel him in a packet. If you're in doubt, feel for King's rim around the top of his head, as you can feel it even if he is facing the other way in the packet.

Series 4: Kid Kazoom

Dusty Mist has a similar shape to Kid Kazoom, a sort of big, round shape. You may also get Dusty Mist’s plant-head confused for Kid Kazoom’s orange lightning mask as they may have the same amount of flexibility if you try to move it around in the packet. Same deal with Rick Rotten, although it depends on if you can discern a SuperThing’s arms from their body in the packet. Typically, their arms are a bit more flexible than the rest of their body, so knowing this could help you. If you believe Kid Kazoom is facing the other way, feel his head, as it has a slight domed shape. His orange lightning mask tip sticks up just behind this dome shape.

Series 5: Kid Fury

Kid Fury has a similar shape to Kid Kazoom, a large, round body with flexible parts on the back and front, because this is Kid Fury’s cap and the front end of his hoverboard thing. When feeling these things, you may come across Bad Jammy, who has both the overall shape of Kid Fury, plus he also has the flexible rubber part close to the top of his head, which you may confuse for Kid Fury’s flexible cap. Fight Foam also has a similar rounded body shape, plus his right arm pose is very similar to Kid Fury’s pose, however the difference is that Fight Foam’s hand feels bigger, as he is holding his own foam. The trick you can use if Kid Fury is reversed is this: when you've got the pack so he is facing right way up, squish the middle. This will squish the flexible rubber that his hoverboard is made of against the checklist inside the pack, but you must account for the other information in this section for this trick to work.

Secret spies: Oculus Max

There is a cardboard circle that appears alongside Max, which makes this ultra rare unique, but aside from that, Max has a small antenna on top of his head, plus he has a thin flexible rim above his face. The antenna is something Walkie Hush also has, so watch out for that. Talkie Hush may also feel similar if he is reversed inside the packet.

Power machines: Doctor Volt

Volt has a big, squishy head, so if you have a similar shape, squeeze it a little to see if it is too firm. Mushrulz has a big head too, so watch out for that.

Kazoom kids: Neonblast

One detail that you cannot see in Neonblast’s 2D checklist art is that he has 2 parts that stick out behind him. The yellow part is harder rubber and has an upward point. The other part is softer rubber and also has an upward point. Mustery has a similar point on his head, but note that you cannot feel the point inside the packet, however you can feel the horizontal part which is connected to the point. Neonblast also can make the packet stick out so it looks like the SuperThing inside is bigger, it is his aforementioned points that push the packet out and if you feel it, there should be a space in between them which you can push down on.

Guardians of kazoom: Kazoom Blast

Just like Neonblast, Kazoom Blast is also tricky because of the details you cannot see on his checklist artwork. In this case, it’s the yellow points that are on his reverse. Since they are close to his base, doing the hole feeling trick then feeling around the outer base should make it a bit easier to find him. He also has 3 points on his head, the 2 outer ones are more pronounced but are more flexible. Cutleaf has similar points and they feel just as flexible, so watch out for that. E-gamer’s kitty ears may also feel like these points as they too are also flexible inside the packet.

Rescue Force: Emperorder and Moonarchaos

This series is especially tricky since there’s two ultra rares instead of one. As such, I will put the points for each in sub-sections:

Emperorder: he has a big shape, his cape makes the packet stick out, plus he has points all over his body, the most pronounced points are the ones further up his body. Best Bite’s point on his head may feel like the point on Emperorder’s head, same with Sunny Fresh, Booster Build [although he will be more flexible in the packet overall], Burnado and Skyflash. Hydroboom’s side points may also feel like Emperorder’s side points.

Moonarchaos: this one is flatter, but he has a weird shape since he is a crescent moon. There is a hole in the right side of his body due to the crescent shape. I guess you could watch out for any flatter SuperThings, when you find one, see if you can find a hole in their body somewhere, Young Joe is a flat SuperThing, but his side-holes are too small, but you could also watch out for Meganoise, as he is a similar flat shape.

Neon Power: Colourflash

Colourflash has a big and solid head, which Blinky also has. However, Colourflash also has a bigger base and a bigger cape, which makes the pack stick out a bit more.

Mutant Battle: Morph

Morph has a shape on top of his head, however when you’re feeling for him, this is unnoticeable, and you may confuse Nice Cream, Cavity Cotton and Camp Spark for him as they have the same overall shape. You may also confuse Raspy for Morph because of his body shape.

Evolution: Galacticool

Galacticool has a big flag you need to look out for: he doesn’t have a peg hole. The trick I told you about in the first paragraph should be super effective on Galacticool. The reason he doesn’t have a hole is because he comes with his hoverboard already attached. That aside, you may also want to watch out for Flaming Bath, as the sides of his base are flexible rubber, which feels like Galacticool’s base. Galacticool also has points on the sides, on his head and on his back. Sticky Ultra, The Brolives, Tak and Scribblous all have points on their heads you may confuse for Galacticool. If feeling for Galacticool from behind, push down on the lower part of the figure, this will be squishy thanks to his hoverboard rubber.

Kazoom Power Battle: Enigma

This Enigma is different to the series 1 version, for starters, his middle rim is a lot smaller so it’s harder to feel. He also has an abnormal base, in which it isn’t actually part of his body, it’s like an effect. You could confuse this for his actual body, which could then lead you to confuse him for Red Splash, as he appears to have a similar shape. The top of his head is also slightly squishy, so watch out for that.

Kazoom Power Mission: Professor K

Again, this Professor K is different to his original series 2 variant. He has a jetpack with flexible wings and a much smaller tube shape on his head. You could confuse him for Badanana, due to the fact both their bodies have thinner tops and bigger bottoms. If he is reversed in the packet, try to feel for his jetpack wings, as they are flexible rubber and should be moved around easily.

Kazoom Power Warriors: Lancelord

This one, Lancelord, is flat, but also has a little red decoration on top of his head. Pong and Emmenstar both feel flat [or flat to some degree], plus Emmenstar has a similar shape on top of his head. You need to be especially careful of this if you suspect Lancelord is reversed in his packet, as his head decoration is more likely to be touched. In case you're confused, try to feel for Lancelord's sword - it should be in the top left of where he is. This trick will get through Emmenstar duplicates as Emmenstar's hand feels slightly bigger.
